A press release [1936] "Law Faculty Challenged" describes dissent among University of Virginia faculty members over President Franklin D. Roosevelt's plan to "pack" the Supreme Court. Political Science Faculty members Robert K. Gooch, Rowland Egger, James Hart, George W. Spicer, Raymond Uhl and Vincent Shea [with reservations] supported Roosevelt's plan which was apparently opposed by the law faculty.
